TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

 

SUMMARY: INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY – SPRING 2018 (UNPAID)

Work closely with the Communications team to generate content for the BPDA’s website/blog, internal and external newsletters, and social media accounts. Assist with other tasks and projects as needed.

 

  • Draft content for the BPDA blog as well as media advisories and press releases.
  • Brainstorm content for social media, see what is being done currently and take note of anything you might add or suggest we do differently on Twitter or other platforms.
  • Sort through daily news clips and distribute agency-specific news internally via email each day.
  • Assist in responding to the agency’s press inquiries.  
  • Help with organizing content for the internal newsletter, checking in with each department for any news they might want to share.
  • Participate in Workstream of your choosing and share ideas with that group; aid in implementation of ideas as necessary
  • Follow a project of your choosing from start (Letter of Intent) throughout its process during your internship; you will be partnered with the appropriate project manager
  • Meet with other interns and coordinate content for the “From an Intern’s Desk” series on the BPDA website

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Interest in real estate development and urban planning is preferred. Knowledge of Boston’s neighborhoods is extremely helpful. Self-driven, highly responsive, creative thinker that works well independently and as part of a team. Understanding and ability to use social media platforms. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Kentico (the content management system used by the BPDA) and basic HTML is preferred. Familiarity with MailChimp and e-mail marketing also a plus. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential.

 

DATES OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: January 2018 to May 2018

Sprig internship available with flexible hours and start date. Intern work schedule is open for discussion based on student and employer needs.

 

Participants in the Internship Program should be Undergraduate students, Graduate students or recent Graduates.
