    TITLE: RECORDS MANAGEMENT & ARCHIVES INTERN

    SUMMARY: INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY – Spring 2019 (Paid)

    Under the oversight of the Chief Archivist, support all records management and archival functions of the organization. The focus of this position will be records management (analog and digital). The BPDA is currently migrating most of its digital content/records to the Box Cloud Content Management platform. The candidate will assist various departments in this transition, helping to implement revised folder structures, understand and utilize permission levels, and assist with digitization projects. Additionally, candidate will be responsible for reviewing, inventorying, and preparing paper records for off-site storage in accordance with BPDA policy. Candidate may also assist with archival requests, accessioning, and finding aid development.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Undergraduate or graduate coursework in library and information science preferred. Candidates must have proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with Google mail. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and administrative skills are required. Experience with Box Cloud Content Management a plus.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The internship site is in the BPDA’s offices at Boston City Hall. On occasion the intern may accompany Records Management Staff to the Archive Facility in West Roxbury. Candidates must have no airborne allergies.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Frequent lifting, carrying and positioning of boxes weighing up to 45 lbs.

     

    DATES OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: January 2019 to May 2019

    Spring semester full or part-time paid internship available (minimum of 20 hours per week) with flexible hours and start date. Intern work schedule is open for discussion based on student and employer needs.

     

    Participants in the Internship Program should be Undergraduate students, Graduate students or recent Graduates.
