    TITLE:          HOUSING POLICY ASSISTANT   

     

    DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: COMPLIANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

     

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    Under the direction of the Housing Policy Manager, assist with the administration of the BPDA’s housing programs and policies, particularly the Inclusionary Development Policy (IDP).

    GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The general duties and responsibilities of the position are included in but not limited to the information listed below.

    • Assist in the administration of Boston Planning & Development Agency’s housing policies and programs.
    • Collaborate with various departments, including Development Review, Office of General Counsel and Compliance, to support in the ongoing implementation of the BPDA’s IDP program and to ensure that various IDP goals are met.
    • With the oversight and guidance of the Director of Compliance, ensure that development projects are in compliance with BPDA guidelines and any applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
    • Continuously review policies and guidelines to ensure that the stated goals of the IDP are being met.
    • Verify accuracy of data on units created and money collected through the Policy.
    • Assist in the development review process, including helping project managers in the passage of proposals through the Article 80 design.
    • Work closely with the Office of Fair Housing and Equity (OFHE) to ensure developments meet OFHE goals and to improve consumer access to IDP units.
    • During the construction period, help monitor projects to confirm IDP goals are being met.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICIATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent plus 2-4 or more years of related work experience.
    • Current familiarity with Boston’s housing market and neighborhoods is strongly preferred.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Normal office environment; little or no physical exertion;
    • Occasional local travel and site visits required.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Little or no physical exertion.
