    Title:  Downtown and Neighborhood Planning Internship (2 Positions)

     

    Summary:  

    Under the direction of Senior Planners, support public outreach and its internal coordination. Assist with public process, document production, workshops, as well as planning, zoning and land use regulation initiatives. The interns will work directly with staff, embedding in the teams leading the following planning initiatives: PLAN: Dudley Square, PLAN: Mattapan, and PLAN: Newmarket, The 21st Century Economy Initiative.

    Scope of work includes opportunities to:

    • Assist in visualizing planning and zoning concepts
    • Participate in the development of novel community engagement strategies
    • Research relevant best practices for planning and zoning initiatives
    • Conduct self-directed research

     

    Qualifications

    Applicant must be enrolled in a master’s program in city planning, urban design, architecture, or real estate. Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is required. While the internship is unpaid, interns typically arrange funding for work at the BPDA through their academic program or other outside sources, with the support of BPDA staff.

    Dates

    Fall 2019 semester, with an option to extend through the Spring 2020 semester. Flexible hours and start date: work schedule will be based on student and employer needs.
